Before the works...
The pine parquet flooring in this Epsom house was looking tired and in timely need of restoration. During our obligation-free survey, we did a thorough inspection of the wooden floors & discussed with the client all possible options, followed by comprehensive quote with our floor restoration & repairs pricing for parquet flooring.
Our client has decided to go for floor sanding and gap filling of pine parquet flooring and finishing the floors in matt Lacquer.
How we carried out this pine parquet flooring restoration...
One of the challenges we faced during the floor works was to complete the floor works in stages, due to bulky pieces of furniture, which could not be removed from the rooms.
Parquet flooring comprises of a large amount of small wooden pieces forming a pattern. Our team will carefully inspect the floors for movement and hollowness, and take further steps on this stage, if required.
During the pine parquet flooring renovation the entire area is going through a sanding process of levelling with coarser grids, finishing with finer grids, and finally buffing, prior to sealing & between the coats, for excellent results.
Our works included approx. pine parquet flooring floor renovation and finishing in matt lacquer. The sealing went down with 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of Bona Mega lacquer.
We also carried out gap filling as part of the floor renovation process. We aim to apply resin filler in late hours of the working day, so it settles properly overnight and in case it is needed we can repeat it on the following day, if required. The putty is after that removed by next step of the finishing process with medium grids.
Overall, this floor renovation project in Epsom was completed as scheduled and to the delight of the client.

Did you know this about pine flooring?
Pine is softwood timber widely used in construction for structural and finishing elements, due to its resilience to moisture. As a porous wood, rich in resins when its fresh, pine will shrink over time slightly, but it also changes colour and makes the original floorboards, which we love to repair & restore, such attractive asset to our environment.
